Criticizing our Internet Service Providers (ISPs) has practically become a second national sport in this country, and it can be difficult to cut through the noise to truly understand what might affect the quality of someone’s internet connection.

In reality, a number of things affect internet access and performance quality: a simple lack of options; cost; old or inadequate infrastructure delivering the service; and even factors within the subscriber’s own home all play a role in this frustrating situation.
